My wager is that we’ll see Sifu on Xbox in a year, but I’m less optimistic that Xbox will ever see their next game. Small update for SifuGame : Design: Polish and Debug. Maybe Sony tries to hold on to Sifu so they can have exclusive sequels without making too much of a splash. Also worth noting that Sony is likely accelerating these relationships in response to the MS acquisitions. One notable difference is that Sifu is not published by Sony, whereas many of the others mentioned were. If Sloclap can prove to be consistently successful, I’m expecting their future lineup to be timed and/or full console exclusives, potentially culminating in an acquisition, à la Housemarque, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, etc. They might want to deliver every version ASAP. Sifu could be their breakout title though. The beat-em-up game was released February 8th, 2022 on the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles as well as on PC, but there’s still the conspicuous absence of Xbox as another capable platform to host the game. It didn’t have the best reception, so the Xbox port might not have been given a high priority. Sifu has been out for a week and punishing players with its expertly-designed combat and has been quite a hit so far for developer Sloclap. It took ~16 months for Absolver (previous and only other game made by Sloclap) to make its way to Xbox after the timed console exclusivity, so it was probably a 12-15 month deal with Sony. There’s nothing officially announced other than that it is a timed console exclusive, so everything else is speculation.
